Gallery Two-Ten

Gallery 210 was established in 1976 as part of the University of Missouri-St. Louis. Under its first director, Professor Jean Tucker - who recently retired as director of the photographic gallery Center for Metropolitan Studies at UM-St. Louis - the small space in Lucas Hall established a national reputation for the organization and development of significant exhibitions and publications on photography. Such major exhibitions included the F64 Group and Modernist Still Life. A few years later the gallery moved into a larger room, down the hall from its original location and for a brief time Art and Art History faculty directed the program. From 1990 through 1995, under the direction of Tom Kochheiser, Gallery 210 developed a substantial reputation both regionally and nationally for the presentation of advanced visual art. Its current director, Terry Suhre is committed to continuing the fine work of his predecessors.
